2018

This post is extremely late, but I want to chat about my goals and ideas I have for 2018. A new year breeds hope and a refreshing spirit that allows people to feel they can reset and accomplish things that they would have not thought possible in the month/year before. It’s easy to think about the all the things you want to accomplish in a new year, but that action of doing it is what seems to be the hardest part.

Whether the goal is to lose weight, drop a particularly bad habit, or have a more positive outlook on a specific thing, it’s something that needs to constantly be top of mind to remind you of what you are trying to accomplish. It’s not easy but it’s one of those things that make you feel really good once it’s achieved.

So, let’s talk about what I have in mind for this year. I have a lengthy list of items I want to accomplish and focus on, but a few things outweigh many others and are taking priority for me right now.

  1. Adopt a healthier lifestyle. Before you roll your eyes and scoff at how that’s everyone’s resolution for the new year, let me explain the specifics I’m focusing on to help me achieve my goals. I have joined the Weight Watchers program and am really enjoying it. The program is helping me watch what I eat to help adopt a new style of eating. I already feel so much more energized because I’m eating more whole foods rather than processed items. I’m also drinking a ton of water.
  2. Take better care of my skin. I’m not old by any means and my skin is still in very good condition, but as I continue to age I want to take any preventative measures I can to help avoid signs of aging. I want to use more products that contain collagen and vitamin D to help supplement what may be lost as a woman ages. I also need to work on wearing more SPF under my makeup to help combat harsh UV rays.
  3. Set a cleaning schedule. I have a regular routine on Sundays that consists of my laundry for the week and dusting/sweeping to get rid of all the pet hair that accumulated throughout the week. However, there are a few things around the house that need my attention more consistently (cleaning out the fridge, toilets, sheets, etc) and I want to set a schedule to focus on those items after X number of weeks.
  4. Focus on my debt. I still have a balance that needs to be paid on my student loans and I want to make it a priority this year. In addition to my student loans, I have a goal of paying off my car so that I can officially own is an get RID of my car payment. Little things like eating out less and budgeting will help me achieve this goals but it’s one I’m realllly focusing on.

Those are a few things I want to physically write out so that I can help remind myself of what I need to be focusing on when the excitement of the new year wears off. I have so many exciting things happening this year that and I cannot wait to see what this year has in store for me. My Mom gifted me with a bullet journal in December and I’m obsessed! Does anyone else have one? I’m still working on the structure of my journal but I love the customization that it offers. The Type A person in me also loves it because I get to be creative while organizing my life. I’m hoping to share my bullet journal customization in a post later this month.

Anyway, I’m excited for this year and all that it has to offer! What are your resolutions this year?
