I finally took the plunge this weekend and got highlights!

Getting highlights in my hair is always something I have wanted to do and ALWAYS chickened out when push came to shove. But, I’ve been eyeing all types of different highlights these past couple of months and I decided I would finally pull the trigger for this Summer.

I am IN LOVE with how it turned out.

My hair stylist and I have been talking about it for months and she told me that when I was ready that bringing in pictures is the best option to really get an understanding of what I want. I showed her 3 similar pictures and she was happy because it was what she pictured for me.

From start to finish it took about two and a half hours and I walked out of the salon feeling like a super model.

As you can see from the photos, I got highlights on the blonder side but it’s blended very well. I made sure to tell her nothing too chunky. I curled my hair the next day and the highlights really shined through after I did that so I’ll probably be styling it curled more regularly.

I didn’t realize how much dying my hair would impact my confidence and emphasize the color of my eyes.

I’m so happy with the results and will definitely be doing it again when they grow out.

Weekend + Links

I wish I could explain to everyone how rough this week was on me. Work was overwhelming and I am in definite need of a little getaway–which is why I’m so excited for San Antonio this weekend. The timing couldn’t have been better. One of my dearest friends is graduating from nursing school and she’s having a graduation party tomorrow evening.

It’ll be good to get back to San Antonio and catch up with all of the people we haven’t seen in a long time. We are also going to lunch at one of my FAVORITE restaurants with the BEST margaritas so I am really looking forward to that.

Can you believe we are already towards the end of May?? We have so much coming up this Summer that I am SOOOO excited.

If any of you are dragging through your Friday as much as I am, hopefully you enjoy some of my favorite links and finds from the week for your browsing pleasure.

+ How gorgeous is this floral maxi dress? And the price point is incredible at only $14!

+ Has anyone else heard all the buzz around the new “man romper“? I thought it was a joke at first, but I think these things are here to stay. The jury is still out on this one…

+ Now that we have a grill in the backyard, I REALLY want to give these lobster tails a try. They look incredible.

+ This adorable striped tee is perfect for casual Friday. I’ll take one in every color, please.

+ Supergoop launched a brand new style of sunscreen that comes in the form of mousse! They gifted me with a little bottle and can’t wait to give it a try!

I hope all of you dolls have a FAB weekend! If you’re looking for me, I’m sipping this rough week away in the form of rosé and margartias!!

Let’s Get Active

Happy Monday, babes!

I hope all of you had as great of a weekend as I did. We spent a lot of time with our friends in the backyard grilling on the barbecue pit and enjoying the fantastic weather. I got a bit of a sunburn but that’s okay. I need a little color in my life. I have really enjoyed being outside lately to enjoy the sun, relax, and even get active with a sport or activity.

I have never been very good at tennis, but it is something I want to try this Summer which is why I’m excited to tell you about the benefits of the sport of tennis. There are so many benefits to the sport of tennis including physical and mental health and stability.

Whether you prefer playing singles, doubles, or against a wall in your backyard, tennis is a fantastic fitness activity that will help you stay in shape. So regardless if you are 14 or 40-years-old, the sport is an effective way to develop and maintain your cardiovascular and muscular system even as you age. Furthermore, there is the game’s mental aspect, which combined with the comfort of playing outdoors allows participants to truly enjoy the best of both worlds.

In the past, I have told told you guys about 5 tips to becoming healthier. That post mainly concentrated on meals and snacks that help you stay in good physical and mental shape. This time, I want to focus on a specific activity that will not only improve your bodily functions, but also better your mind in ways you least expect.

On paper, tennis is not your typical weight-loss program, as it is a start-stop kind of full body workout. That is why compared to more traditional fitness activities such as swimming, cycling, and running, its health advantages are often lost in the big picture. However, by looking at it from a human kinetics standpoint, you can see that the sport works the upper and lower body muscles with all the powerful shots, as well as the quick side-to-side and front-to-back movements.

Since tennis greatly enhances aerobic and anaerobic health, it opens the door for you to burn more calories and fat. Kim Selzman writes that the sport”can help you burn anywhere from 359 to 480 calories per hour during a singles match, and 250 to 300 calories per hour during a doubles match. In addition, it promotes bone and heart health, and increases balance, flexibility, and coordination.”

Contrary to popular belief, tennis boosts brain function, too! It requires players to be more creative when it comes to shot making and shot placement, basically all the tactical factors of the sport. You will also enrich your interpersonal skill and discipline, due to the abilities needed to be good at the game it takes time, patience, and dedication. Play Your Court even suggests it has a deeper impact on adults as, “tennis can function as a social outlet, a form of exercise, and a competitive hobby all at once.”

The beauty of tennis is that despite its sort of exclusivity and difficulty, it really is an all-encompassing sport, a total body workout, and a definite networking activity all rolled into one. To a certain degree, it doesn’t matter if you prefer playing a casual game during the weekend or choose to train competitively, look to lose weight or just as a medium to exercise outdoors; the sport has its own way of fitting your fitness needs. That’s why William Skidesky feels tennis is the best sport in the world, bar none.

With that being said, I am looking forward to giving tennis a solid go and hope that my body loves it as much mentally as it will physically.

My Summer Must Haves

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 / 9

We are almost to the weekend!

This work week was especially rough on me and I am in serious need of the weekend. And some champagne. Lots of champagne.

Speaking of being in serious need of the weekend, Summer is right around the corner and I’m counting down the days. It is hands down my favorite season of the year! I feel like I thrive in the Summer with the hot sun, cold pools, weekend BBQs, and MY BIRTHDAY!

I am itching for Summer to be here which is why I’ve rounded up a few items I would consider must haves this Summer. I’m currently eyeing these lemon slip ons, these gingham shorts, and tassel earrings.

I just bought these sunnies the other day in rose gold and can’t wait for them to arrive! They’re only $12 and their direct link is below.

I hope all of you have a FAB weekend!

My Summer Reading List

Happy Hump Day!

I’ve recently grown an itch to start reading an array of different books. I will admit, I’ve never been much of a reader, but I have a sudden curiosity about a lot of books and I want to make a small list of the ones I want to read this Summer.

I know I will be doing a mild amount of travel in the coming months, so I also think a small list of books to read will help refresh my memory when I want to bring something along with me on the trip.

This is a story reflecting on the lives of four completely different women, and like it or not, they’re all family. As three generations of women descend on one property in Maine for the Summer, each brings her own hopes and fears along with them to the house.

Before Ever After

My mom recommended this one, so I’m definitely going to give it a shot!

This is a story about a widow that even three years after her husbands death, she finds each day as painful as the day he died. This is until she gets a knock on her door from a young man that she could swear is the spitting image of her late husband.

Could it be him? Could it be a long lost stranger? I guess I will have to read to find out!

All The Light We Cannot See

This read is about a blind French girl and a German boy whose paths collide in occupied France as both try to survive the devastation of World War II.

Um, YES! I have always been fascinated by WWII and The Holocaust. I can’t wait.

The Futures

In this dazzling debut novel about love and betrayal, a young couple moves to New York City in search of success-only to learn that the lives they dream of may come with dangerous strings attached.

The Perfume Collector

I understand this book to be a compelling story where you think you have the “mystery” all figured out just to receive the twist of the century at the end. I’m already hooked.

I’ve ordered the first two and I can’t wait to get my hands on them.

Do you have any recommendations on books or different stories you think I should read?

Let me know!
