The current decor in my apartment is so confusing. I have such a good feeling when I’m buying cute things at Homegoods, come home and decorate, and 6 months later look around and realize not a single thing in my apartment has a cohesive look. When I was in college and shortly after, if I liked something, I bought it. Now that I’m really looking at the appeal of my home, I realize it doesn’t flow. At all. There is a bright blue rug in my dining room, bright pink and yellow paintings above my entertainment center, and an old desk at the entry of my apartment with no drawer knobs on them. I’d say it’s time to work on redecorating. Don’t you?
After patrolling Pinterest more than I should and watching enough HGTV to give you the blood type of the Property Brothers, I’d say I’ve figured out that I always am so impressed by the pictures and shows with neutrals and metallics throughout the home. I found these pictures as prime examples:

I love headboards like the one above. White furniture with white bedding and then adding texture to the room with accent pillows and blankets. And this living room is EVERYTHING! I like the gray walls with the white wainscoting and that gorgeous mirror above the fireplace.

The neutral grays and whites throughout the room are soothing to the eye yet look luxurious and classic. Describing a design aesthetic with focus on shades of gray and white may make one think that the room could look dull and cold. But I think it looks so warm and cozy. The pops of metallic decor make the room pop and draws your eye in certain directions.
I’ve been collecting some metallic and neutral decorations that will hopefully grow to look like a cohesive design throughout my apartment soon. Out with the old and in with the new! What design style do you like in particular? I’m just ready for my home to not scream recent college graduate.
